I have always had an interest in health and well being and am drawn to helping people. I initially worked in the hospitality industry but when my son was born, I changed careers and worked in the NHS for over 13 years in various roles, of which 4 years were in the pathology laboratory at my local hospital.
Several years ago, I had a stress related illness and also physical injuries. Conventional medicine helped to a point but I felt it didn’t get to the root cause. After undergoing physiotherapy, this helped me to understand more about body movement and how pain affects the body. From here, I started looking into other modalities and also Eastern medicine, particularly the mind-body link as I was intrigued about how reflexology worked. With my background of everything needing to be proven, I was very sceptical at first.
After a lot of reading and research, I decided to have a treatment to experience it first-hand, which I found fascinating. This prompted me to do the course.
As complementary therapies are not required to be regulated by law, I took great care in choosing my course provider as I wanted to have a qualification that was recognised both abroad as well as the UK. I also wanted to be part of a body where the importance of codes of conduct and professional ethics are recognised, which is why my reflexology qualification is from the VTCT and I am a member of the, AoR and also the CNHC. I am committed to providing a high standard of care and am fully insured.
I also have a certificate in lymphatic drainage. Although reflexology does work the lymphatic system, I have found that some people benefit more from having this as a stand alone treatment.
I am able to offer reflexology for fertility and pregnancy as I have undertaken specialist training.
Providing treatments are truly amazing experiences for me. Giving a treatment and seeing a positive change in someone is a joy, making it worthwhile and very rewarding. I love what I do.
